Step by Step: Windows 7의 Windows XP Mode 암호 초기화하는 방법

XP 모드 설치 방법: with VirtualBox using VMLite plug-in

Install XP Mode with VirtualBox Using the VMLite Plugin ]

Note: You need to have Windows 7 Professional or above to use XP Mode in this manner.

    1. Install XP Mode

Make sure you’re logged in with Administrator rights for the entire process. The first thing you’ll want to do is install XP Mode on your system (link below). You don’t need to install Windows Virtual PC.

    sshot80

Go through and install XP Mode using the defaults.

    sshot811

    2. Install VirtualBox

Next you’ll need to install VirtualBox 3.1.2 or higher if it isn’t installed already. If you have an older version of VirtualBox installed, make sure to update it.

    1vm

During setup you’re notified that your network connection will be reset.

    sshot48

Check the box next to Always trust software from “Sun Microsystems, Inc.” then click Install.

    3VM

Setup only takes a couple of minutes, and does not require a reboot…which is always nice.

    4vm

    3. Install VMLite XP Mode Plugin

The next thing we’ll need to install is the VMLite XP Mode Plugin. Again Installation is simple following the install wizard.

    2up

During the install like with VirtualBox you’ll be asked to install the device software.

    3up

After it’s installed go to the Start menu and run VMLite Wizard as Administrator.

    sshot-2010-03-04-[18-04-11]

Select the location of the XP Mode Package which by default should be in C:\Program Files\Windows XP Mode.

    4up

Accept the EULA…and notice that it’s meant for Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions.

    5up

Next, name the machine, choose the install folder, and type in a password.

    6up

Select if you want Automatic Updates turned on or not.

    7up

Wait while the process completes then click Finish.

    9up

The VMLite XP Mode will set up to run the first time.

    10up

That is all there is to this section. You can run XP Mode from within the VMLite Workstation right away.

    11up

XP Mode is fully activated already, and the Guest Additions are already installed, so there’s nothing else you need to do!  XP Mode is the whole way ready to use.

    sshot-2010-03-04-[22-37-37]

    4.Integration with VirtualBox

Since we installed the VMLite Plugin, when you open VirtualBox you’ll see it listed as one of your machines and you can start it up from here.

    12up

Here we see VMLite XP Mode running in Sun VirtualBox.

    14up

    5. Integrate with Windows 7

To integrate it with Windows 7 click on Machine \ Seamless Mode…

    15up

Here you can see the XP menu and Taskbar will be placed on top of Windows 7. From here you can access what you need from XP Mode.

    sshot-2010-03-04-[18-28-56]

Here we see XP running on Virtual Box in Seamless Mode. We have the old XP WordPad sitting next to the new Windows 7 version of WordPad.

    sshot-2010-03-03-[22-47-22]

This works so seamlessly you forget if your working in XP or Windows 7. In this example we have Windows Home Server Console running in Windows 7, while installing MSE from IE 6 in XP Mode.

    sshot-2010-03-04-[22-49-00]

At the top of the screen you will still have access to the VMs controls.

    sshot-2010-03-04-[18-34-42]

You can click the button to exit Seamless Mode, or simply hit the right “CTRL+L”

    20up

    7. Conclusion

This is a very slick way to run XP Mode in VirtualBox on any machine that doesn’t have Hardware Virtualization. This method also doesn’t lose the XP Mode activation and is actually extremely easy to set up.

If you prefer VMware (like we do), Check out how to run XP Mode on machines without Hardware Virtualization capability, and also how to create an XP Mode for Vista and Windows 7 Home Premium.

    sshot792

    2) VMware Player

     1) VMware Player에서 “Create a New Virtual Machine.”

    sshot-20

The real advantage of the default XP Mode in Windows 7 is that the XP programs are fully integrated with their Windows 7 counterparts.  You can run them seamlessly with other programs, copy between them, and even open and save files to the same folders.

Let’s set this up in VMware.  Copy and paste from Windows 7 or Vista to XP in VMware is activated by default.  To use your XP programs seamlessly with Windows 7, click VM on the top of the VMware window, and click “Enter Unity.”

    sshot743

You can easily access any program or file in XP mode through a dedicated XP Mode Start Menu.  When you hover over your Windows 7 Start button, a new button called “Windows XP Mode” will above it.  Click there to access a full start menu from XP Mode right in Windows 7.

    sshot783

And it works the exact same in Windows Vista.

    sshot-46

Here is an IE 6 window from XP running side-by-side with IE 8 in Windows 7, thanks to VMware Player!

    sshot773

And notice, this is guaranteed to work on any edition of Windows 7 or Vista, including Home versions.

    sshot-47

By default, the virtualized windows will have a border and the VMware logo on their edge.

    sshot-2010-02-16-[20-21-39]

To remove this logo, click VM in the VMware player window, then settings.  Click on the Options tab, and choose Unity on the left.  Now uncheck the boxes that say “Show borders” and “Show badges.”

    sshot763

Without having the VMWare borders and badges give everything a more authentic XP Mode look and feel.

    sshot-2010-02-16-[20-23-15]

You can even use removable devices, such as flash drives, in XP in VMware Player.  Whenever you connect a new device to your computer, VMware will remind you that you can add it to XP.

    sshot822

Simply click VM, then Removable Devices.  Select your device name, and click Connect.

    sshot863

By default, files created in XP in VMware Player will be saved inside the virtual machine.  It’s more convenient if they’re saved directly to the My Documents folder in Windows 7 (or the Documents folder in Vista), so let’s change this.  Click VM, then Settings.  Click the Options tab, and then choose Shared Folders on the left.  Now click the bullet for “Always enabled” and check the box for “Map as a network drive in Windows guests.”

    sshot853

Now click Add at the bottom of that window.  This will let us add a shared folder.

    sshot872

Let’s add the My Documents folder from Windows 7 (or the Documents folder in Vista).  Click Browse, and then select your My Documents folder.  Click Ok, and then click Next.

    sshot902

Make sure the box is checked that says “Enable this share” and then click Finish.  You can now close the settings window as well.

    sshot912

Back in XP, click Start, then right click on My Documents, and select Properties.

    sshot42

Click Move to find the new My Documents folder.

      sshot142

Find the folder we just shared from Windows 7 or Vista by clicking My Computer, then the drive that says “Shared Folders on ‘vmware-host’” or something similar.  Now select the folder we shared, Documents, and click Ok.

    sshot152

Click Ok in the main properties window.  It may offer to copy the files from your old My Documents folder to the new one; choose Yes to make sure you have all of your documents in Windows 7.

    sshot112

Now, whenever you go to save a file in XP, it will automatically save in your My Documents folder on Windows 7 or Vista, depending on your circumstance.  You can repeat the same process for any folder you wish, such as your My Pictures and My Music folders.
